Solar installed. No miner yet? Start with your PC.

Some mining currencies suit processors, others graphics cards. Explore CPU and GPU mining, compare benchmarks and measure your own PC before investing in new hardware.

CPU / Processor

Some algorithms suit CPUs.

Mining currencies use different algorithms. Some can be explored with a processor. Which currency is suitable depends on the currently supported mining paths and your CPU's performance.

Compare hashrate and power use for the relevant algorithm. Only a measurement on your own PC shows how efficiently your setup runs.

GPU / Graphics card

Other algorithms benefit from GPUs.

For other mining currencies, a suitable graphics card is the right path. Performance and efficiency vary with the algorithm, GPU model and settings. Check the specific mining path and whether your card is supported.

Benchmarks help you compare options. They do not automatically prove that a coin, pool and payout work with every device.

See the compatibility guide for the currencies SolarMiner currently supports. View supported mining paths →

Quick start

Choose a platform. Copy the command. Get started.

Choose the recommended stable release or a current beta build. Mining only begins after you explicitly configure it in the local interface.

Which hardware should Docker use?CPU / no GPU

You need curl to fetch the script. It installs Docker and Compose through the package manager when needed. Host GPU drivers are not changed. NVIDIA needs the NVIDIA Container Toolkit, AMD needs working AMDGPU/ROCm devices, and Intel needs /dev/dri plus an Intel-enabled image with XPU-SMI. Intel support is experimental and limited to cards supported by Intel's XPU-SMI/driver version. Select multiple vendors for a mixed system; the installer combines their Compose overlays.

Terminal
curl -fL https://github.com/Solarminer-app/pc-agent/releases/latest/download/install-docker.sh -o install-docker.sh
sh install-docker.sh --gpu none

Then open http://127.0.0.1:8084/ on the same PC. For Docker on another host, use that host's LAN IP. Never expose port 8084 to the public internet.

Your first trial

Try. Measure. Decide.

The PC-Agent can run independently. Automatic adjustment to solar surplus additionally needs a configured SolarMiner Node and suitable energy measurements.

01 / SET UP

Start the PC-Agent.

Choose Docker, Linux or Windows above and run the displayed command. Then open the local interface, install the appropriate miner and configure your own wallet.

02 / MEASURE

Collect your actual values.

Start a short, supervised trial. Measure the whole PC at the wall and check pool revenue, fees, temperature, noise and available solar hours. Agent benchmarks help compare performance.

03 / COMPARE

Does it fit your day?

Compare revenue after mining fees with grid costs and foregone feed-in payment. Account for wear and your use of the PC. Then decide about longer operation or new hardware.

Before starting

Start with clear expectations.

Will I mine Bitcoin?

These PC paths do not mine Bitcoin. Bitcoin mining requires a compatible ASIC. The compatibility guide lists the currently supported CPU and GPU coins.

Is the trial free?

You can use existing hardware and SolarMiner software without a subscription. Without a SolarMiner Node the dev fee is only 1 % – the PC-Agent runs as a standalone program. Electricity, foregone feed-in revenue, wear, and pool and miner fees still incur costs. The PC calculation therefore requires revenue after all mining fees.

What happens when I add a Node later?

As soon as your SolarMiner Node steers or reads the PC-Agent – or you enable Node control in the agent – the software automatically switches the dev fee from 1 % to 2.5 %. You only pay the higher rate for automation that is actually running. The PC-Agent always shows the current fee and its split transparently.

Does the PC-Agent start mining automatically?

On first launch, miners are not installed or started automatically. Configure your chosen mining path and start it explicitly. For node control, enable it in the agent and configure your node and energy measurements.
